What Employers Say You Should Do To Get A Job After Incarceration

Below is a small list of things to do to better your success in obtaining a job.

What Employers Say You Should Do To Get A Job After Incarceration

  1. Identify your skills and be able to demonstrate or show what you
have done to develop your skills. (A list of books you read, classes
you've taken, a sample of your work).
  2. Show that you are interested in the company and in being a
productive employee and a contributor. Research the company and let
the interviewer know what you know about the company.
  3. Don't Burn Bridges. Even if the first interview does yield the
outcome you want, be polite, courteous, and grateful. Your last
impression may get you a call back for a second interview in the future.
  4. Show your commitment to your skill, craft and profession. Join an
association or volunteer. For every person you meet through an
association or through your volunteer efforts, the more exposure and
visibility you have to jobs in your line of work
  5. Be a Good Communicator. Regardless of what type of job you seek,
even if it's a back office or far away from customers and clients, you
still need to have good communication skills. It is your communication
skills (reading, writing, listening, effective speaking) that will get
you the job. Ask some one who will be honest with you, if your
communication skills need to be improved? Then seek resources to help
you improve your commuication skills, the resources you need may are
likely available at your local library at no cost.
