About SNVPMSouthern Nevada Prison Ministries (SNVPM) is staffed by volunteers that share the belief and passion contained in Matthew 25:31-46. Mike Adkins, Founder and President, has been involved in prison ministry for several years ministering to incarcerated juveniles and adults within Southern Nevada, Arizona, Califorina, and South Carolina. In South Carolina, Mike led a Christian Men's groups of inmates in Christian worship and structured Bible Studies and has conducted Christian counseling to incarcerated juveniles. Currently, Mike is a police Chaplain for the North Las Vegas Police Department. In his capacity as Chaplain, Mike employs Crisis Intervention methodogies to those he comes in contact with while riding along with NLVPD. Mike also conducts and oversees Bible studies each week for the men and women incarcerated at the North Las Vegas Detention Center. Mike has also participated in "Happy Hour" at the Las Vegas City Detention Center. Happy Hour is an innovative service where volunteers share personal events that are interrelated with Biblical precepts. Mike also makes visits to the Clark County Detention Center upon request. The Vision of the Team is to provide the incarcerated spiritual exploration, offer unconditional love and acceptance in a Christian setting, encourage the sharing of life journeys and help the incarcerated find a full life, and foster spiritual growth and to promote participation in the long term mentoring process which provides spiritual and emotional support in order to enhance positive self-esteem and promote constructive life choices. |
